Summer is far from over yet – and we’d argue there are far worse excuses for booking a European city break than for some sun-kissed music discovery. At Time Out, we’ve discovered some of our all-time favourite artists completely by chance – by walking past a stage or stumbling on a late-night DJ set on our way home. From the Danube River to the shores of the Seine, festivals on the continent boast some of the most diverse programming around: from vibey 90s-inspired darkwave and industrial rap to pop-infused reggaeton.

So once you’ve booked yourself a festi ticket and you’re putting together your packing list, don’t forget your new Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro. These nifty yet powerful personal earbuds will take up minimal room in your hand luggage but have studio-quality speaker systems and built-in features like Galaxy AI Interpreter* (which might come in helpful for when you’re ordering a beer in Spanish, right?). Galaxy AI automatically adjusts the audio levels depending what you are listening to, to create the best experience and 24bit audio – so you can hear every bass, melody, even specific instruments in crystal clear quality.

On the journey home, indulge your auditory canals with the sounds of your newly discovered artists played out on your Galaxy Buds3 Pro and Galaxy Buds3. Not sure where to start? Here are five up-and-coming artists to catch and where.

Artemas

Where: Sziget festival, Budapest

It’s highly likely you’ll recognise the catchy ‘i like the way you kiss me’, which has been streamed more than 65 million times and topped No. 1 in the Billboard Global US chart after going viral on TikTok. It’s the brainwork of Artemis, a 23-year-old from Oxfordshire who still remains as mysterious as his distinctive darkwave sound, inspired by nineties bands like Nirvana and Beck and scattered with relatable lyrics. Get ahead of the crowd and get to know him before his next track blows up.

Key track: ‘i like the way you kiss me’

Corto.alto

Where: We Out Here, Dorset

There’s a reason why Gilles Peterson has championed this Glaswegian multi-instrumentalist from early on. Corto-alto is arguably one of the UK jazz scene’s best-kept secrets: fusing nu-jazz with electronic production, broken beat and red-hot improv via trombone, trumpet and drums. The result is quirky, spacey and a little bit funky: music you’re just as likely to stroke your chin to as you are to two-step.

Debby Friday

Where to watch? End of the road, Dorset

What happens when you mix slowed-down synths, clashy industrial percussion and low-fi beats? Probably something which closely resembles the music of Canadian-based artist Debby Friday, whose mesmerising debut album, GOOD LUCK, is a love letter to the dancefloor via vulnerable lyrics which will pang on your heartstrings. If you’re lucky enough to catch her live on the festival circuit, expect big energy, infectious dance moves and vocals which will be ringing in your ears for days (in a good way, of course).

Key track:SO HARD TO TELL

Isabella Lovestory

Where: Paredes de Coura, Portugal

You can’t help but have fun when you see (or hear) this Honduran-born Latin-infused pop star. Expect fiery reggaeton rhythms, metallic synths and pop-y hooks with a DIY sensibthat which will get your hips shaking and your foot tapping. Be sure to dig deeper into her Spanish lyrics using the Adaptive EQ** function on your Samsung earbuds.

Key track: Botoxx

sim0ne

Where: ION Festival, Albania

A new Gen Z favourite on the festival dance circuit, Simone Murphy AKA sim0ne is the London-based Scottish DJ and producer who’s been going from strength to strength with her playful, tongue-in-cheek super-sped club tracks (she’s already been given the nod of approval by horsegiirL and has bagged herself a residency on London’s Rinse FM). Her sound? Internet memes and the glitchy noise of the TikTok For You Page packaged up into donk-adjacent dance floor-ready bangers, with a sprinkling of Lana del Rey.

Key track: 'work it
